Supporting all modules in the Jetson™ Platform, JetPack 4.5 includes the first production release of VPI, NVIDIA’s Vision Programming Interface. VPI is a software library that provides Computer Vision and Image Processing algorithms to access popular APIs. VPI amalgamates popular frameworks to fast-track development of vision applications.
The other notable upgrade includes the Multimedia API (V4l2) being extended to support interaction with CSI cameras. This will ease the integration of CSI cameras to the Jetson platform, accelerating video encoding, decoding and opens many features including quality, latency, bit rate control, and more.
JetPack 4.5 also provides Jetson AGX Xavier, Xavier NX, and TX2 applications the ability to boot from NVMe or USB. This highly requested feature can be critical for applications that require additional storage beyond the modules eMMC.

Featured: About VPI
VPI 1.0 is designed to bridge and implement various frameworks where APIs are unavailable or are incompatible with each other. Popular frameworks such as OpenCV, NVIDIA® CUDA® SDK, PVA (Programmable Vision Accelerator) and VIC (Video and Image Compositor) can be easily accessed for development and fine-tuning within your Jetson application. The end result: rapid prototyping and fine tuning, significantly reducing time-to-market.
In addition to VPI 1.0, JetPack 4.5 includes the L4T 32.5 OS with general system security improvements and updated flashing and boot performance.
