Key Responsibilities:

The SMT Maintenance Technician will primarily be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing SMT machines used in electronics manufacturing. These duties include:

  • Scheduling and performing preventative maintenance tasks including greasing, cleaning, adjusting, calibrating, teardown, etc.
  • Diagnosing equipment issues and troubleshooting SMT processes/equipment issues
  • Replacing faulty components or performing upgrades
  • Assist with maintaining production quality and efficiency by keeping equipment and processes operating smoothly.
  • Assist with day-to-day operation of SMT equipment and processes

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist college diploma or university degree and 2-4 years related experience
  • Experience working with and/or maintaining SMT equipment, including stencil printers, pick and place, reflow ovens, SPI/AOI, Xray, aqueous cleaning, selective soldering.
  • In depth understanding of SMT assembly processes
  • Comfort using hand tools and performing mechanical work with equipment.
  • Experience with electronics inspection to IPC-A-610 standards
  • Training and Experience in ESD Procedures
  • Good manual dexterity demonstrating fine motor skills for working with small components (hand-eye coordination)
  • Strong English language comprehension is a must
  • Work from written/verbal instructions, technical manuals, engineering specifications and schematics
  • Possess good interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of electronics assembly
  • Ability to work independently and schedule time efficiently.
