This KDB applies specifically to the Xtreme/104 Opto Rev. C and Xtreme/104 Opto Rev. D. If you are using an Xtreme/104 Opto Rev. B these instructions do not apply. If you are using a Rev. B board, please refer to KDB-284, Using the Xtreme/104 Opto Rev. B In RS-485 Half Duplex Mode.

The Xtreme Opto Rev. C and Rev. D boards have complete jumper selectable termination and BIAS networks available. It is recommended that the customer USE THIS NETWORK in just about all cases. The only exception would be where the Xtreme is in multi-drop mode, but is not a master. In the Xtreme/104 Opto manual, documentation specific to Rev. C and Rev. D boards has an error in this regard.

The manual states jumpering pins D and E on jumper blocks JB4-JB6 will enable half duplex mode. This is an error – you should actually jumper pins F and G on jumper blocks JB4-JB6. Pins F and G use the aforementioned BIAS and termination network. This error in the manual will be corrected.
