Introduction:

The Connect Tech Inc. WhiteHEAT/USB 4 RS 232 multiport serial adapter features 4 light emitting diodes (LEDs) to assess the operational status of the USB connection and any serial connections. With the assistance of CTI Technical Support, the pattern of the LEDs, whether they are on or off, blinking or not blinking, may establish the functionality of the WhiteHEAT/USB 4.

Special Note:

There is a special note worth mentioning for the RS 232 serial port LEDs, numbered 1 through 4. The port connect/detect circuit of each serial port requires at least one input be driven to a level greater/less than +/- 2.7 volts. If this is not present, the LED for that particular port will fail to illuminate. This explains why the serial port LED may not illuminate, despite having a device or cable connected, and the USB LED is active.
