If you are installing a member of the Intellicon or NT960 family into a DOS system which uses emm386.exe, you must exclude the memory address range used by the serial adapter. Otherwise, emm386.exe will try to make use of this memory address range.

Here is an example of how to exclude the memory range of an Intellicon installed at D0000h:

device=c:\dos\emm386.exe X=D000-DFFF

Symptoms:

A typical symptom of a memory manager conflict is that during a cold boot of the system, the Intellicon or NT960 fails to initialize, but during an immediate warm reboot, the Intellicon or NT960 will initialize.
