In order to setup an NT960 Flex16 RS-485 slim to mimic the standard RS-485 slim on the Intellicon Flex-8 or on the Dflex product lines, the following should be applied to the dipswitch bank on the NT960/RS-485 slim:

001111 – position 0=down/off, 1=up/on
123456 – dipswitch #

Meaning of these dipswitch settings:

1 (off) – TxD load is removed.
2 (off) – RTS load is removed.
3 & 4 (both on) – RxD is connected to bias and laod circuits.
5 (on) – RxD load is DC (150 ohms).
6 (on) – CTS load is DC (150 ohms).

This way, when you are using ctty to setup the RS-485 characteristics of the NT960 Flex16 RS-485 slim, you would specify the following for a 1/2 duplex RS-485 connection:

ctty +rts +rxd < /dev/nt1

which is similar in characteristics to the following line for an Intellicon Flex-8:

ctty +rts +rxd < /dev/cti1
