Title: Echo Card Locks PC when Status Port is Enabled
Keywords: Echo, EC001, EC002, EC003, lockup, status port
Date: March 19, 2004
KDB: KDB-292
Revision: 0.01
Author: Support
Distribution: External
This KDB only applied to Echo cards manufactured before March 18th 2004.
A bug was found in the dip switch settings logic on early EC001, EC002, and EC003 cards. This caused the Echo cards with the base port address settings of 240, 2C0, 2B0, and 190 to function incorrectly when the status port (Dip Switch 8) was enabled.
The typical result was a lockup of the PC when the status port was accessed. This error has been found in DOS based systems but is likely to be seen in other operating systems.
To prevent this issue from occurring, the card should be sent in for reprogramming through our standard RMA process. Please contact our Technical Support Staff if you need any information on this.
