Guelph, Ontario – Connect Tech, a global leader in embedded computing solutions, today introduced the EdgeAQ AI System, a compact, industrial-grade Edge AI platform powered by the Toradex Aquila AM69 System-on-Module (SoM) based on the AM69 processor from Texas Instruments.

The EdgeAQ combines eight ARM Cortex-A72 cores, a dedicated deep learning accelerator delivering up to 32 TOPS, and Connect Tech’s proven rugged system design to deliver serious Edge AI capability. With a wide variety of I/O, including multi GMSL camera inputs and built on the robust Torizon software platform, it’s designed for developers who need reliable, maintainable results that run 24/7 in the field, from robotics and automation to machine vision and industrial control.
“EdgeAQ extends our reach deeper into the industrial and embedded markets,” said Rob Callaghan, Chief Product Officer at Connect Tech. “By combining Texas Instruments’ proven industrial silicon, Toradex’s modular SoM architecture, Torizon software stack, and our system-level design expertise, we’re delivering a real alternative to traditional x86 systems. EdgeAQ gives developers the compute performance they expect, but in a smaller, lower-power platform that’s built for longevity and ready for deployment.”
“We are excited to collaborate with Connect Tech to bring EdgeAQ to market, the first of many powerful Edge AI solutions,” said Daniel Lang, CMO at Toradex. “Together we deliver a complete, ready-to-use solution that lets customers focus on their application. With Torizon, developers can align their systems with the latest cybersecurity requirements, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act, while benefiting from a modern, continuously updated embedded Linux stack.”
Key Features:
- Powered by Toradex Aquila TI AM69 SoM with up to 8 × Cortex-A72 cores and dedicated AI accelerator (32 TOPS)
- Compact, deployable footprint 135.5mm x 75mm x 109mm
- 4x GMSL2 camera inputs for synchronized high-bandwidth vision
- 2x Gigabit Ethernet, NVMe (PCIe x2), and up to 256 GB eMMC
- Industrial I/O suite: USB, UART, CAN 2.0b, RS-422, I2C, SPI, GPIO
- Wide range -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F) operation
Benefits:
- Harness the Aquila AM69’s eight Cortex-A72 cores at 2.0 GHz for exceptional compute performance.
- Industrial-grade reliability – engineered for continuous operation in extreme conditions.
- x86-class performance, ARM efficiency – delivers compute power comparable to mid-range x86 systems with a fraction of the power.
- Torizon software ecosystem – simplifies secure deployment, updates, and long-term maintenance.
- Longevity and support – backed by Texas Instruments’ industrial lifecycle and Connect Tech’s field-proven hardware platform.
With integrated deep learning accelerators and optimized Arm® architecture, EdgeAQ enables real-time intelligence at the Edge – powering advanced computer vision, predictive analytics, and large language model (LLM) workloads. Its rugged design and long-life components ensure continuous, reliable operation in mission-critical environments, while exceptional power efficiency supports fanless, low-thermal deployments.
By pairing Connect Tech’s proven hardware expertise with Toradex’s Torizon Linux-based software platform, EdgeAQ simplifies development, deployment, and secure remote management. Torizon also helps developers stay compliant with new cybersecurity standards such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
